Sarah Read – Home Help: Profile

I came late to domesticity: through my 20s in London I kept only coffee in the fridge, and my housework was more on the Big Picture side – restoration/renovation.

However in 1994 my son was born, and  since then I have pluckily (diligently?) tackled all aspects of ensuring the smooth-running of a family home.  (In the early days this was a sole charge situation, now it’s more of a job-share.) (See reference below).

In recent years, I have taken my domestic skills into the professional arena: my job at the Argo Trust (see the Caregiving page for details) involves cooking, laundry and cleaning to a high standard.

Key skills and experience:

  • Shopping, cooking for the household
  • Laundry, cleaning/spring cleaning
  • Clearance (indoors and out), landfill trips
  • Packing, shifting, unpacking
  • Redecorating (prep, painting etc)
  • House sitting, pet care (special needs no problem)

Move over Sara-Lee:For the best apple pies you will ever find you need look no further than Sarah Read. Sarah is a woman of many house-keeping talents, and the apple pie is up there in my personal top 5 . A close second comes the lemon cake (with lemon yoghurt and berry sauce – yum!).
While work around the house is not ‘woman’s work’, Sarah excels at it. She makes a house into a home.
If you choose to avail yourself of her services you will not be disappointed.

“It is a pleasure to work with Sarah Read. She is not just only a great chef – everybody should try her satay sauce. Sarah Read is also an organized woman, flexible and incredible multitasked. Extraordinary is her management which allows everybody to be in time and otherwise have a friendly and stressless atmosphere too. Popular is her cleaning of fridge or pantry in her overnight shifts. Sarah is a gorgeous workmate and even after a restless nightshift always very kind, showing her amazing porridge (which you also should try).
